Journalling:
I was born in South Africa. My accent is 70% Sth African. There are some things that English can’t express as well as when you mix English and Afrikaans together. I had my first boyfriend and first kiss in Sth Africa. I have Cape Malay heritage unique to Sth Africa. I have more Face Book Friends from Sth Africa than any other country. Nelson Mandela is my hero and always will be. I love Table Mountain and Lions Head and Signal Hill and all that lies below it. I love braais and meebos and biltong and guava juice. I love how growing up there gave me a strong sense of ethics and justice on a global scale. I love that summer isn’t too hot to stay outside all the time and that at the end of a season there I am browner than I can ever hope to be. Mostly I love the people, my friends and all my family. Sometimes I want to be in 2 places at once.
I live in Australia. I am now an Australian Citizen, but comfortable that I can apply for dual citizenship. I love how most of the population here has a very high standard of living. I love that here I could afford to go to university on my own. I am thankful for all the opportunities I have because of living here in Adelaide. I love Barbecues and beer at the pub and pavlova and lamb roasts. My accent is 30% Australian. I love how living here has humbled me and given me a more rounded view on life, people and the world. I love that it’s ok here for me to be 35 and still not married. I love the level of gender equality and opportunity I have in my career. I love the River Torrens, the beaches and the Bay. Mostly I love the people, my friends and all my family. Sometimes I want to be in 2 places at once.

10 Things I heart to do in Aunty Q’s Study
1. I walk up to the side of the chair and look cute or sad so Aunty Q picks me up on her lap
2. I say “mouf” and play with the infrared light on the mouse
3. I wait for Aunty Q to surf to Playhouse Disney and sing Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to me
4. I smash on the keyboard, it’s broken now, no B, M or N Keys and no arrows!
5. I say hello – “eywoe” to the baby in the mirror
6. I play with beads and clay or sewing stuff
7. I put my feet up on the desk in front of the keyboard
8. I say bus “bush” and “mam mam”
9. I throw all the things I play with on the floor so Aunty Q picks it up
10. I taste test everything I play with
“but i hate how all she does is want to take photos!”

 The Laattoe Brothers This is an old photo my cousin sent to me recently of my dad ( far right), her dad (centre) and my other uncle. I am not 100% sure on the year here, but am guessing that my dad looks around 8 years old, so that would make it 1958.

This is Sammy, if there ever was a little boy who approximated an energiser bunny, it would be him. Is Energiser Bunny a mixed metaphor? I don’t know… The Bunny is Duracell right? and Energiser is the little battery dood? Well when I say he is a little Energiser Bunny, I am thinking of the little battery dood, running around and doing a million things and never getting tired. Go, Go, Go, Go… Like that.

At the Scrapping Site I choose to call home (The Digital Scrapbook Place) they have a wonderful event every month where they choose a member to be a spotlight for that month. There are challenges related to this and other members are encouraged to Scraplift (I would define it as nice legal plagiarising – emulating their style or taking design ideas from their work in praise of the original) the member spotlight.
This month the spotlight was a lady who goes by the digital name of nekobus and this is a Scraplift of one of her layouts that I did.
 - First Time in a Pram
It is a photo of my darling niece when she was 3 months old, This is the first time she was put in her pram, initially she was unsure what was going on, but after some prompting mummy and daddy got a beautiful smile.

 Killer Shoes I bought a really cute 1950′s style short cocktail dress pale pink with navy blue flowers for my brother’s wedding, the hunt for the perfect shoes were on. It’s tough finding navy dressy shoes here in Australia, but these are the ones I got. They were perfect and looked fabulous on. I just assumed, if you can walk in a heel, you can walk in any heel right?! Well luckily I discovered during a pre-dress up day, that I most definitely had to practise. I didn’t fall over carrying the sleeping flower girl down the aisle or anywhere else, but they did get kicked off on the dancefloor later in the evening
