Please Note! – Cotton Stitches has now Closed! (added 11 May 2015)
About a year ago, I wrote a post telling you about a new patchwork store here in Adelaide (O’Halloran Hill to be exact). The store called Cotton Stitches and owned and operated by Nicole Maple. The store has grown and evolved over the last year and there is a lot more eye-candy for my taste than there was last year (I had a favourite corner last year).
In case you don’t know my taste is a bit more contemporary (ie bright and modernish and sometimes cutesy). The store still caters to more traditional tastes as well though, so mum still loves shopping there. Perfect example of my taste is the sample quilt above, hanging on the wall at Cotton Stitches, there is a kit available here
Cotton Stitches had its first birthday a couple of weeks ago and well since the Adelaide Craft and Quilt fair had come and gone (yeah I know… no post from me, I hardly dipped my hand into my wallet and didn’t take any photos!). I’m not saying the fair wasn’t good, just that this year, for us (mum, my sister in-law and I) it was a bit meh.
So I went with my mum to the 1 year birthday celebration sale and had to (I just had to!) grab some things for myself. I ended up getting a papillon honey bun, a scrumptious charm pack and snap to last year’s purchase a bluish cotton garden thread. Speaking of thread though, I am using Cosmo thread in my Vignette Mystery Block of Month Quilt (still a WIP), and also used it in the stitchery panel Sew Laugh Love by Leanne Beasley. Well Cotton Stitches has a massive amount of Cosmo threads… yum yum
I have a fair amount of embroidery thread but I do love Cosmo!
Mum grabbed a few things for herself too. So the Cosmo thread is now available, Cotton Stitches has also started selling the GO Quilt Cutter and dies and also stocks light boxes. The prices are still very good for a brick and mortar local store too. So I would get in there if you are local or go online and order some stuff for your stash!
That is a super happy bag, I love the colours! I briefly scooted over the Adelaide Craft and Quilt Fair above, but I do want to show you what I did buy. I have a lot of UFOs and lot’s of projects I know I want to do as a stitcher/quilter, but I really wanted to add this pattern/patterns to my list of things I will eventually get around to stitching. The pattern is by Julie Haddrick an award winning textile artist and is just so cute I couldn’t resist!
Isn’t it adorable! My Favourite panels are the top right and the middle second one in the centre. So cute – I said that already starting to gush…
I’ll just leave you with one more pic, then I am out of here… Yes I am still on the health and fitness thing, but I will update you on that tonight (or maybe tomorrow when I officially weigh in again).
Good Night, Wherever you are!
