I have had this empty blog post saved in my drafts since late September last year – yep almost a year.
Piper Caelestis Was the very first BJD I put on layaway in case you have never waited for one… I ordered her on the 20th April, I paid her off late in May and I received her on the 12th September. She was originally released by Soom as a Limited Edition Doll (Glot) in 2009. Last year Soom had a special where you could order some of the Limited dolls just as long as you didn’t get a full version (human parts as well as fantasy parts) and you also couldn’t order the same colour skin as the original doll (Cream White). I ordered a wig for her (from Leeke) and also eyes (From Captured in Glass), that both arrived a long time before she did. Her name was chosen because of her goat hooves and my idea of her being mystical or celestial.
At the time I could not afford to get full body blushing, so her body, hooves, wings and horns all arrived unpainted. I think this was part of the reason it took me so long to spend time with her. She got a beautiful delicate face up from Soom and her green eyes and turquoise wig were both exactly as I imagined. I would like to get her hooves and horns painted in a mother of pearl kind of colour and pinks and purples for the wings and fur around the hooves.
I imagined a few tiny braids with beads and some kind of headdress and wanted her to only have silver and not gold or copper or brass jewellery.
Last weekend, I finally took her out of her box and decided I would try to work on my ideas for her hair. She really is quite pretty and I regret not spending time with her sooner. I used some fresh water pearls, crystal bicones, moonstone shard beads and some silver leaf charms for her braids and I added some to a silver chain for her headdress as well.
So finally after all this time, Piper is not hiding away in a box with cushioning and bubble wrap, she is out and about.
Our next adventure will be to get her wings, hooves and horns painted.
