Baby Pull Toy, Ribbon Blanket… Taggie

The first time I ever saw one was on Moda Bakeshop Here back then my youngest niece was very new and me being the over the top Aunty that I am thought that was too simple a project so I proceeded to make her alphabet coasters with stitcheries on them.  Yes I stitched 26 images, one for each letter and appliqued each letter on the opposite side.  It took a long time and I’m not sure Charlotte was ever very excited about it, she probably knew the entire alphabet before I finished anyway 😀

More recently I saw it again on Cheryll’s Blog also with a tutorial here and thought hey, I never made one of those, maybe my new niece (who is about 16 weeks old now) would like one. I bought the fabric I needed (2 flannel fat quarters of Amelia by Me and My Sister for Moda) from the Cotton Stitches stand at the Adelaide Craft and Quilt Show a few weeks ago.

So Tuesday night, I grabbed them out of my Craft Purchases bag (yep there is still stuff in there I haven’t unpacked) and also got out my two -girly-toolboxes- (that is what DB calls them) of trims.

And an hour or so later (including the time required to chase Arya away from the box of trims and to try and explain that this was not a toy for a kitten but for a baby) I had one.

Today I got a pic on my phone of my niece totally absorbed in playing with her blankie… hey little babies like these things! I’m a proud aunty and it didn’t take me ages or make me feel guilty cos I hadn’t finished it. (Not that either of my nieces or my family would do that – I do it to myself!)
