Do you get excited when you find something really adorable that you can use for your hobby, then buy it, stash it and maybe don’t see it again for a while? Well some of these I haven’t seen for a while, but I needed a bit of a cheer up, so I thought I would show you all the cute waiting to go into roomboxes.
I’m a little embarrassed about this but I am waiting on more than one new bjd to be made, paid and delivered so in addition to some of the roombox ideas I have already talked about there are a few I have not. I’ll tell you all about these dolls when they arrive, ok well maybe I’ll tell you about some of them in my next post, but for now some of them are getting gifts.
The Steampunk flagstone floor and walls are still not done but will probably get some progress during the day today. Here are some minis waiting to be deployed into the steampunk roombox.
The globe on the left is a gift from a friend (pencil sharpener!) that will be added to the collection of maps, expedition plans and my steampunk globe in the room. I have already showed you the brass jug, I got this at a thrift store for $1. The set of scales on the right is also a pencil sharpener from the same range, I found this one in a gift store at a railway station that only runs steam engines and cockle trains. So they had those teeny little trains too, aren’t they adorable? (one is for my niece’s doll house and the other is for my roombox) The key-ring I found at Spotlight (Fabric, Manchester, Scrapbooking and Home Decor shop) and will also be added to the how to get where you are going paraphernalia in the room.
If you are into miniatures (especially playscale miniatures) or into asian fashion dolls in general it’s highly likely that you have heard of Re-ment miniatures, these are high quality plastic miniatures made in Japan in collectable sets. I have several of these sets that will be used for some of the roomboxes being planned.
I was lucky enough to score this BBQ set second hand for a reasonable price.
Got Milch? LOL
I found this cage as well it’s a Christmas tree ornament I think or some other ornament meant to be hung from somewhere. I am not sure where it will be re-purposed yet, but I am sure it will find a home.
I also found these at a local discount variety store… I can see them as modern lampshades in a cluster of say three sizes in one of the roomboxes, what do you think?
One of my future dollies is a young Asian girl, who will have a cute modern bedroom and I’m thinking about her also having a lounge room adjacent her bedroom (ie taking up two roomboxes). I like a lot of Asian style decorative items but I like Japanese, Chinese and Korean traditional items, so I hope I won’t be being totally offensive to anyone, but I will be mixing elements of the styles I like for my new little girl.
Either actual dollies or wall decorations, haven’t decided yet.
The mini Kokeshis are 3cm tall, they come in a box of two with a little pet from a range called Kimmi Dolls – these two are Junior Kimmi dolls. The Kokeshi in the centre is a cell phone charm find from China Town and the teeny Kewpie Cell Phone Charm (Kewpie Lemon) was a free gift when I bought some re-ment items.
The little Buddha is about an inch tall the wooden kokeshi was another China Town find and the box in the background is one piece I snagged from another re-ment set.
That put a smile on my face 😀
I introduced you to Mimi a couple of posts ago. Well I’ve decided that Mimi, will have a mish mash style that includes steampunk, neo-burlesque, old worlde circus/side show, vaudeville but a very innocent non-sexualised version of these styles, so she got a new wig that embodies her new style.
I think she likes it, can you tell?
